HSE to engage with industrial relations process as Galway radiographers vote for industrial action

The HSE says it is fully committed to engaging with the industrial relations process to achieve a satisfactory outcome to the concerns raised by SIPTU radiographers

The Health Authority was responding to the trade union’s confirmation that radiographers in UHG and Merlin have voted for industrial action in a dispute over safe staffing levels.

The union says members are facing a significant extra workload amid a 20 per cent staffing deficit their proposals to address these issues have been rejected by management

The HSE statement agreed with SIPTU about the challenges posed by a global shortage of radiographers

It added that it is making every effort to fill vacant posts and is actively prioritising ongoing recruitment campaigns which target domestic and international markets.
