HSE spends 1.7 million euro on agency staff in Galway

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway University Hospitals has spent more than 1.7 million euro on agency staff during the first five months of the year.

The data from the HSE was revealed to Sinn Féin TD Louise O'Reilly following a Parliamentary question.

Across the country, the HSE has spent 135 million euro on agency staff between January and May in hospitals and community healthcare organisations.

Sinn Féin says unless the recruitment and retention crisis is addressed, agency spending will continue to cripple the health service.
