From the Galway Bay FM newsroom: The HSE says it cannot give a commitment as to when day care services will resume at St. Brendan's in Loughrea.
Due to a HIQA re-registration requirement, the Seven Springs Day Services area was incorporated into the designated nursing home centre.
The HSE says it's not in a position to reopen day care services in the original facility, but alternative locations are being sought, with a focus on the St. Brendan's campus.
However, the HSE says no commitment can be given at this time on when a day service will recommence, but it is committed to reopening the service at the earliest opportunity.
Councillor Geraldine Donohue says it's unacceptable that a year and a half later, this vital community resource remains closed.
