HSE confirms replacement GP secured for Kilconnell Health Centre

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The HSE has confirmed that a replacement GP for Kilconnell Health Centre in Ballinasloe has been secured.

The matter was raised at this week's meeting of the Health Forum West, which heard the current position will become vacant in February.

Elsewhere in Galway, it was revealed that there are five vacant positions for GP's participating in the General Medical Services scheme.

These are currently filled on a temporary basis for periods between one and five years pending permanent replacements being found.

It was also noted that the longest unfilled GP position in the region is on Inis Oírr and Inis Meáin, where a temporary locum GP has been operating since August 2018.
