Galway Bay fm newsroom - A public rally to demand an end to the ongoing housing crisis will take place in the city this weekend. (11/9)
The event is organised by the Galway Homeless & Housing Coalition, which is made up of local organisations, campaign groups, students unions and trade unions.
It says the scale of the crisis in Galway is stark, with the rental market becoming increasingly unaffordable, and purchasing a home out of reach for most people.
It also notes that with the lack of supply, students are finding it impossible to find accommodation for the return to campus.
Speakers at the event will include Galway West Sinn Fein TD Mairead Farrell and President of the NUI Galway Students Union, Roisin Ni Lochlainn.
The socially distanced rally will take place at Eyre Square tomorrow at mid-day.
