Galway Bay fm newsroom - Approval has been given for a new housing development just outside the city close to the old Dublin Road.
Seamus Furey has secured planning permission for 23 houses off the Coast Road towards Oranmore, in the townlands of Merlin Park and Doughiska.
The city council has granted planning permission for the houses at the Old Dublin Road and Oranmore Coast Road with 35 conditions attached.
One condition requires a 57 thousand euro bond to be lodged with the city council before work begins.

This is to ensure the development is completed.
A further 23 thousand euro must be paid to the local authority towards the cost of extending the footpath, public lighting and drainage at the old Dublin Road junction.
