Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Housing Minister says "we're playing catch up" with housing as he visits new developments and construction sites across Galway city and county
Minister Darragh O’Brien first visited the Respond site at Gaelcarrig which is comprised of 24 new social homes on the Circular Road with an adjacent site of 59 homes
He later visited another Respond site in Ballybane which is comprised of 101 homes.
The homes are a mixture of apartments, bungalows, semi-detached and terraced homes with playgrounds and a basketball area
Speaking to our reporter Sarah Slevin at the Circular road site, the Minister addressed concerns about the progress being made.
Minister O'Brien has also been visiting housing developments at Ballymoneen Road and Briarhill.
Later this afternoon he will visit houses in Tuam, Athenry and Cartron in Kinvara.
The Minister is advising local councils to be sure of their budgets when it comes to housing.
