The city council granted planning permission to Catena Property Company Unlimited for 39 apartments at Upper Salthill.

However that decision has been appealed to the higher planning authority by some Salthill residents.

In a third party appeal, local property owners raise concerns about the plot ratio for the site and the floor level of the apartment block.

They also claim that the apartment complex planned for 105 Upper Salthill doesn't take account of the established building line along the road.

The developers, Catena Property Company Unlimited, also lodged a first party appeal against one of the planning conditions imposed by the city council.

The condition required the developer to remove the upper floors of Block A, which consisted of 4 apartments.

However, Catena argues that the rationale for the building heights is to address the frontages onto Toft Park and onto Salthill Road Upper.

An Bord Pleanála will make a final decision on the Salthill apartments in November.
