Helicopter flights to Galway Races up by a quarter this year

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The number of helicopters landing at the Galway Races grew by 25 per cent this year compared with last year.

According to today's Irish Times 150 helicopters landed at Ballybrit racecourse over race week, up 30 from last year.

This is still 79 per cent below 2007 figures, when 700 helicopters landed during race week, with 289 flights taking place on Ladies' Day alone, that year.

Executive Flights from Galway Docks to the Racecourse this year cost €350 per person for a return journey, or €250 one-way.
