Health Minister Stephen Donnelly says he's "really pleased" with the progress being made on a new surgical hub under construction at Merlin Park.
The hub will relieve pressure on waiting lists at UHG - by performing a high volume of surgeries of low to medium complexity.
It's modelled on the highly successful Reeves Centre at Tallaght Hospital in Dublin.
The Health Minister is at Merlin Park this afternoon to inspect progress on the project, which is expected to be delivered next year.
And Minister Donnelly told Galway Bay fm news he's pleased by what he saw.
