Galway Bay fm newsroom - Half a million euro has been awarded to 12 county Galway projects through the Government's outdoor infrastructure fund.
The largest allocation of €125,000 has been awarded to Traught Beach in Kinvara to provide bins, picnic tables, seating, benches, and cycle parking.
The Palace Grounds in Tuam has received almost €110,000 for park entrance signage, drainage works, upgrades to the picnic and bench areas and to provide wheelchair accessible areas.
Oranmore Village Centre has been granted €100,000 for public realm enhancements.
Meanwhile, smaller allocations of between €10,000 and €45,000 have been awarded for enhancements at Annaghdown Pier, Heaford Pier, Portumna Park, Loughrea Park, Ballinasloe Fairgreen, Leenane, Clifden and Spiddal villages and at An Trá Mor, Coill Rua in Spiddal.
Meanwhile, 735 thousand euro has been allocated to outdoor infrastructure in the city.
This includes pedestrian areas, planters, city and park benches.
