Galway Bay fm newsroom - GP cover is to be expanded at the emergency department at UHG.
Another GP is due to commence work at the busy A&E towards the end of the month.
The ED currently has one GP providing support to the consultant and nursing staff, in a bid to deal with ongoing overcrowding demands.
It's planned to have two GPs covering three days a week in the Paediatric section.

The Regional Health Forum West heard that this is expected to commence in the next two to three months.
Forum member and Tuam area councillor Mary Hoade says assurances were provided that GPs always work under the supervision of a consultant.
