Galway Bay fm newsroom - Governance documents in relation to the proposed Sandy Road and Dyke Road developments are being finalised between the Land Development Agency and Galway City Council.
It follows a briefing to the Corporate Policy Group of Galway City Council in July.
Galway City Council says a multi-disciplinary design team from Reddy Architects & Urban Designers has been engaged and is proceeding to prepare a spatial strategy for the projects.
This will include preparation for significant stakeholder engagement with the property owners and others in the coming months.
The process will result in an outline strategy which will be brought to Galway City Council within six months.
It is expected that the projects will proceed to planning process during 2022.
The Sandy Road project would see the creation of a major new city neighbourhood using over eight and a half hectares of land along Sandy road.
The aim of the Dyke Road project would see the LDA manage a planning application for a phased mixed use city centre development comprising affordable housing, commercial space and public realm space.
