Gort Gardaí investigate discovery of body near Kinvara

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Gardaí in Gort are investigating the discovery of a body near the coastline in South Galway.

A person out walking near the shoreline made the discovery at around 11.30 yesterday morning at Doorus, north of Kinvara.

The remains, understood to be that of a female, have been removed to the mortuary at UHG.

The local Coroner has been notified and the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested to conduct a post-mortem examination.

Gardaí say efforts to identify the deceased are ongoing and the outcome of the post-mortem exam will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
