Galway Bay fm newsroom - Gort Community School is using its state of the art technology to develop 100 face visors a day for healthcare workers.
The project is led by the school's technology teacher, Micheal Dervin, following discussions with colleagues from different sectors who have started similar initiatives.
The school has two 3D printers, which are used to develop some of the material components for the visors.
The masks are then assembled by up to two volunteers at a time, while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
Meanwhile, secretarial staff at Gort Community School are liasing with hospital healthcare services to arrange for the free delivery of the equipment
The school's principal Brian Crossan says it's been a huge community effort.
