Galway Bay fm newsroom - Plans have been approved for the upgrade of water treatment facilities in Gort.
The facility currently supplies up to 1.4 million litres of treated water per day to the local area.
The development led by Irish Water will include the provision of a weatherproof enclosure for an existing unit.
It will also involve all associated site development works, the provision of a temporary contractor's area and all necessary ancillary pipework.
County planners have attached 10 conditions to their grant of permission.
These include a stipulation that all hydrocarbon or chemical storage tanks are to be adequately bunded.
It's also stated that development works are to be carried out between 8am and 7pm Monday to Friday inclusive and between 8am and 2pm on Saturdays.
