Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology and the Agriculture and Food Development Authority, Teagasc have formed a new strategic partnership.
It's to develop academic and educational co-operation in areas of mutual interest.
President of GMIT, Dr. Fergal Barry and Director of Teagasc, Professor Gerry Boyle signed the agreement at the Letterfrack campus in Connemara.
The initial partnership will focus on areas of broadleaf forestry and hardwood timber utilisation.

Dr. Dermot O Donovan from GMIT says the aim is to explore the potential for Ireland's native hardwood stock.
