Galway Bay fm newsroom - The heavy rain across Galway has led Gardai to advise motorists to be extremely careful when travelling this evening and tonight.
The downpours have also wreaked havoc with Galway's sports fixtures.
A status yellow rainfall warning is in place for Galway, and it will remain until six tomorrow morning, affecting all of Connacht, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.
Up to 80 millimetres of rain is expected to fall over the next 24 hours and some spot flooding is to be expected.
Forecaster with Met Eireann, Liz Walsh, says up to 40 milimetres of rain has fallen so far today.
