Galway Bay fm newsroom - Gardaí are reviewing CCTV from businesses in the Kinvara area in a bid to capture two culprits involved in an alleged distraction theft.
The incident happened when two men purporting to work for the county council, gained entry to a man's home at Ballyclery last Friday evening.
The man in his late 50s was walking home with his bicycle from Kinvara towards Ballyclery around 4p.m last Friday. (31/4)
He was stopped by two men in a car who claimed they worked for the county council and had to do some work at the man's house in relation to a water issue.
They offered to give the man a lift home to his house and when they arrived, one of the men distracted the owner, while the second man allegedly stole a sum of cash.
They then left the house and the man reported the missing cash to gardaí.
The car they were driving was a dark grey 3-door coupé with a rounded boot and a roof rack with a double ladder on it.
The driver of the car is described as being in his late 20s, 5 feet ten inches in height, with black hair.
The second man is around the same age, 5 feet 10 inches in height with thin blond hair.
Gardaí in Gort are gathering CCTV footage from local businesses which may have captured suspicious activity in the area.
They're also appealing to anyone who may have seen the car involved in the theft at Ballyclery, Kinvara to contact them at 091 63 64 00.
