Galway Bay fm newsroom - A number of road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place in the city this week as Galway prepares to welcome Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The royal couple will visit the city centre and a local GAA club when they arrive in Galway on Thursday.
William and Kate will begin their first official trip to Ireland later today with their schedule over the coming days taking in Dublin, Kildare and Meath.
From 4am until lunchtime on Thursday, no vehicles will be permitted access to William Street, Shop Street, Abbeygate Street, High Street and Mainguard Street.
There will also be traffic restrictions from 9am until lunch at Flood Street, Cross Street, Middle Street and St. Augustine Street.
Restrictions will also apply at Bridge Street and Lombard Street while arrangements will be in place for school traffic.
There will be restrictions to pedestrian access at Shop Street, High Street and Mainguard Street from Thursday morning until 1pm.
The royal visit will also take in Salthill with traffic restrictions in place at Dr. Mannix Road from 9am until 2pm on Thursday.
No premises will be closed on the day and the city centre remains open for business.
