Galway Bay fm newsroom - Gardaí are investigating after two vehicles were destroyed in an arson attack at the Carn Ard estate on the west side of the city.
The incident occurred at around 6am on Sunday morning.
Emergency services attended the scene and extinguished the fires, which caused serious damage to a parked van and car, one of which was parked in the driveway of a home.
Gardaí say no-one was injured during the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact Galway Garda Station at 091-538000.
Speaking to Galway Talks, Councillor Mike Cubbard says it's no surprise to see incidents like this happening as it's "far too easy" to be a criminal in this country.
He points to our justice system which he claims is acting like a conveyor belt for many offenders.
