Galway Bay fm newsroom - Gardaí in Loughrea are looking for help from the public in relation to a spate of burglaries in the area over the past week.
Last Wednesday afternoon, April 5th, a house at Acrebeg was broken into.
The culprit or culprits broke into a garden shed and then used a sledge hammer from the shed to break into the house.
Rooms were ransacked, a safe was broken into and jewellery and cash were taken.
Meanwhile, on the same evening, a house under renovation at Marblehill, Ballinakill Loughrea was broken into.
A number of tools were stolen including a Honda generator and a consaw.
A definite line of enquiry is being followed into a burglary at a house at Maghernearla, Eyrecourt last Thursday, April 6th around 2pm.
Around six thousand euro worth of jewellery and cash was taken during the raid when a safe was broken open.
Firearms which were also in the safe were removed but were later located to the rear of the house.
The latest break-ins happened last Sunday night at the Cottage Hill estate in Loughrea where a large number of items was stolen from five houses.
This included home electronics and construction equipment.
