Galway Bay fm newsroom - Gardaí are questioning two men in relation to an assault in the city centre overnight.
A man in his 20s was seriously injured during the incident near the junction of Abbeygate Street and Market Street after 2a.m.
He was taken to University Hospital Galway where his injuries are described as serious.
Gardaí have detained two young men for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
