Galway Bay fm newsroom - An East Galway TD has warned that cattle prices are dropping by up to 150 euro per head due to level five restrictions.
Independent Deputy Sean Canney is calling on the Government to allow buyers to attend marts under social distancing rules.
It comes as over 500 cattle had to be brought home from Ballinasloe mart at the weekend, as a result of its online trading system breaking down.
Deputy Canney argues that online trading platforms are vital going forward but says marts should be allowed to use their discretion in a responsible way until the systems are full proof.
He says farmers have serious concerns about falling cattle prices as the sector enters its peak sales season...
