Galway Bay fm newsroom - A report on arts centres and venues across Ireland is a clear 'wake-up call' that action is needed to address Galway's severe lack of arts infrastructure.
That's according to Deputy Catherine Connolly, who's reacting to the publication of a national report by the Arts Council.
It shows that while Ireland has an average of almost 3 arts venues per 100 thousand people, the figure for Galway is one of the lowest nationwide at just 0.6.
However, Galway City fares significantly better with an average of 5 arts venues per 100 thousand people.
Galway West Deputy Connolly says the report is a 'wakeup call' for Galway's local authorities that action must be taken to address the deficit.
