Galway TD says HAP overhaul needed when landlords "afraid" to accept it

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway TD says the Housing Assistance Payment Scheme - or HAP - is clearly not working properly when landlords are afraid of accepting it.

Deputy Sean Canney says it's not a fair system when a tenant on HAP who fails to pay the top-up amount causes all rent to be stopped to the landlord.

Speaking in the Dáil, Deputy Canney argued that both tenants and landlords should be treated fairly under the scheme.
