A Galway TD says Government spending on staff pay and perks must be reigned in.

Sinn Fein Deputy Mairead Farrell has blasted the Government for the number of staff it employs in certain sectors and for the amount it pays Ministers.

It comes as, last week, the coalition Government agreed to pay a third Super Junior Minister an additional 16 thousand euro in annual salary.

As of last night, Cabinet has agreed Government Ministers will give 10 per cent of their salaries back to the state.

Meanwhile, the Irish Independent has reported that the Green Party leader Eamon Ryan has appointed 8 special advisors.
