Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway TD says the Government has serious questions to answer after it was handed a €5m fine over Derrybrien Wind Farm.
It's after the European Court of Justice ruled EU law was infringed upon during the construction of the wind farm in 2003.
In October of 2003, there was a major landslide at Derrybrien, which polluted local waterways and killed around 50,000 fish.
The state has been heavily criticised by the EU for failing to carry out an environmental impact assessment on the construction of the farm.
Deputy Anne Rabbitte says the Government is flouting it’s Climate Action Plan while simultaneously showing disregard for EU environmental regulations.
