Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway TD has raised concerns over the Gardaí's ability to recruit staff competent in Irish.
At a meeting of the County Joint Policing Committee this week, Chief Superintendent of Galway Garda Division, Tom Curley said there hasn't been a large uptake of Gardaí with Irish, which is required in Gaeltacht areas.
He added that there are a number of vacancies in Connemara such as Carraroe and Letterfrack.
