Galway TD demands additional supports for first time buyers

From Galway Bay FM newsroom- A Galway TD says the Government must provide additional supports to first time home buyers due to the increased costs of building.

Deputy Sean Canney says he's been contacted by many young couples who had their new homes costed and have been approved for a mortgage.

However, he says with the unprecedented rise in costs they cannot proceed with their houses.

Deputy Canney notes the Society of Charted Surveyors estimate that house building costs have risen by more than 20 percent in the past 4 years.

He argues the Government could immediately introduce a VAT refund scheme to help first time buyers.
