Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway TD is calling for urgent supports to refurbish some of the 90 thousand homes lying vacant across the country.
Addressing the Dáil, Deputy Noel Grealish said they're in every village, town and city in this country - and noted Galway Mayo, and Donegal account for a third of them.
He said even in the areas of highest demand nationwide, there's significant numbers of derelict and vacant homes.
It's as the Regional Group of TDs introduced a bill which seeks to introduce supports and financial incentives to bring these idle units back into use.
Deputy Grealish, who's a member of the grouping alongside local Deputies Sean Canney and Denis Naughten, said Ireland has an unacceptably high vacancy rate.
