Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway TD is calling for increased retrofit grants due to the rising costs of building materials.

Galway East TD Sean Canney argues in light of rising costs, the Government needs to review the incentives available to homeowners to ensure there is sufficient uptake of the retrofit scheme.

It comes as supply shortages of insulation material and timber in particular has lead to significant price increases.

Deputy Canney argues the retrofit scheme plays a key role in reducing emissions by ensuring older homes are more energy efficient.

He says grants available through the scheme are now not sufficient or attractive to homeowners.
