Galway Bay fm newsroom - Roscommon-Galway TD and Former Environment Minister Denis Naughten has claimed that one of the Green Party's key demands for government will be 'impossible to achieve'.
Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil are considering a 17 point letter from the Green Party leader Eamon Ryan, potentially opening the door for a coalition government between them.
Sources in both parties say they think they can work with the document.
One key demand involves reducing carbon emissions by 7 per cent every year - however, Deputy Denis Naughten says it's an impossible goal.
The Independent TD is the convenor of the Regional Group of TDs, which had talks with Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael this week.
While Deputy Naughten welcomed the Green Party setting out its stall for government, he's highly critical of its environmental policies.
Meanwhile, Green Party Eamon Ryan is insisting that any government involving them will need a big focus on reducing carbon emissions.
He says a new Green deal for the country will involve big changes for rural Ireland.
