Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway study has revealed the scale of workplace ill-treatment across Ireland.
The survey led by the Health Promotion Research Centre at NUI Galway is the first major study of its kind to be carried out in Ireland.
The Irish Workplace Behaviour Survey, published today, reveals that more than two in five workers experienced a form of ill-treatment at work.
One in 12 say they have experienced or witnessed physical violence in the workplace.
37% of workers surveyed say they've experienced unreasonable management, while 14% of respondents say they perpetrated it.
Women are much more likely to experience ill-treatment at work on two or more occasions per day - mainly at the hands of other female workers.
Dr Margaret Hodgins, from NUI Galway says companies need to foster a positive workplace culture.
