Galway Bay fm newsroom:
Galway school students will leave their classrooms and gather in Eyre Square next month in a call for action on climate change.
This is the second 'Schools Strike' protest to take place this year but the first of the new semester.
It’s all part of the ‘Fridays for Future’ movement which began in August 2018, after 15 years old Greta Thunberg sat in front of the Swedish parliament every schoolday for three weeks.
Hundreds of students gathered at Eyre Square in March in their first call for action on climate change.
They were among thousands of young people across the country who have also protested outside their local authorities and school gates, as well as at the gates of Dáil Eireann.
Next month's protest will begin at 1pm on Friday September 20th in Eyre Square, and includes a climate march to the Spanish Arch.
