Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway shoppers are being urged to protest the use of plastic packaging as part of a national campaign.
The Galway branch of the Green Party is calling on shoppers to join the 'Shop and Drop' campaign on Saturday.
The day of action, being run by Voice Ireland and Friends of the Earth, urges customers to leave behind any plastic packaging from their groceries at the checkout.
The move aims to raise awareness of the amount of plastic being forced on consumers by suppliers and supermarkets.
