Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway scientist has been awarded a quarter of a million euro to further a study for a potential new treatment for breast cancer.
NUI Galway Professor Corrado Santocanale, is now based in the centre for Chromosome Biology at the Newcastle campus.
The research focuses on CDC7 - a protein which assists cancer cells to divide.
It examines the role of CDC7 inhibitors in preventing cancer calls dividing.

The funding has been awarded by research charity Breast Cancer Now.
