Galway county has second most primary pupils being taught through Irish

Galway bay fm newsroom - Galway county has the second highest number of primary pupils being taught through Irish in the country.

CSO figures show nationwide there are more than 44,000 learning as Gaeilge.

However, there are 166 less children being taught as Gaeilge across the city and county this year compared to last year.

According to CSO figures, the county with the most amount of pupils being taught as Gaeilge is Cork, which has over 5,000.

While there are 44,138 primary pupils nationwide having their lessons taught through Irish.
