Galway City Council says it will continue to collect flood damage material until 4p.m tomorrow and sandbags are available at Raven Terrace, Jury's Hotel and Salthill garda station.

City council staff, along with the army, civil defence, gardai and fire crews were on standby for high tide around 6 this morning, but it passed without any major flooding.

David Joyce from Cork City Council says they're not expecting similar damage there, but that people should take precautions during high tide.

Meanwhile, around 100 premises are without power in the Monivea area this morning due to a fault.
