Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway has recorded eight cases of COVID 19 in the last 14 day period.
Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ronan Glynn has warned that the public nationwide needs to be vigilant as the virus spreads to many areas.
He has stressed the recent rise is not just confined to Kildare, Laois and Offaly where restrictions were recently introduced.
36 cases have been detected in Limerick over the last 14 days, 34 in Clare and 22 in Cork.
The data for the last fortnight shows Galway has one of the lowest incidence rates during the period of 3.1- with Kildare recording the highest.
Public health officials are warning a "significant" number of cases could be reported over the next seven days.
