Galway Proclaims today as 'Martin's Day' at special ceremony in the city

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway's Town Cryer has proclaimed today as 'Martin's Day' in memory of Richard 'Humanity Dick' Martin.

Today marks the 200th anniversary of the world's first piece of animal welfare legislation placed in the statute books by Martin.

The very grand commemoration took place at Martin's former house- now Tigh Neachtain's pub in Galway
