Galway misses out in latest government housing activation fund

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway city and county have missed out on a share of a new 226 million euro fund for housing.

The allocations to 15 local authorities have been announced this afternoon as part of the Rebuilding Ireland initiative.

However, the city or county council has not been included in the Local Infrastructure Housing Activation scheme.

The 226 million euro fund will see infrastructure such as road upgrades, pumping stations and community amenities provided across Ireland.

The vast majority of the new builds will be in Dublin and Cork.

Minister Coveney says the funding will lead to the delivery of 23,000 housing units by 2021.
