Galway knackeries among 40 nationwide to close as they seek better financial package

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Two East Galway Knackeries, Madden's Woodlawn and Greene's Ahascragh, are among the 40 nationwide that have been forced to close according to the Animal Collectors' Association.

Those working in the animal collection service are calling on the government to increase funding to their industry.

The ACA says talks broke down with the Department of Agriculture earlier this week on the issue.

Chairperson Michael McKeever, says they are prepared to remain closed as they are currently making a loss.
