Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway has one of the lowest job vacancy rates in Connacht.
New figures from recruitment website IrishJobs.ie show the county has a vacancy rate of 2.78 positions per 1,000 employed people.
In the west, the figure for Galway of 2.78 is second only to the vacancy rate for Mayo of 2.19 - and below Leitrim at 3.25, Sligo at 3.14, and Roscommon at 3.
The rate is calculated by dividing the number of vacant positions by the number of those employed in a given location.
Limerick currently has the highest vacancy rate in the country - with a figure of 5.22 vacancies per 1,000 employees, ahead of Dublin at 4.76.
Experts say Limerick's high rate is a result of an increase in investment and job creation in the city over the past 12 months.
Meanwhile, Offaly has the lowest vacancy rate in the country - with a figure of 1.51 per 1,000 employed in the county.
