Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Galway branch of the Irish Farmers' Association will elect a new chairperson at its AGM in Athenry tonight.
Peter Gohery from Eyrecourt, Ann Mitchell from Menlough and Stephen Canavan from Corofin are in the running for the role, and will take over from current chair Pat Murphy.
If elected, Ann Mitchell would be the branch's first female chairperson.
The AGM takes place at the Raheen Woods Hotel in Athenry tonight at 8.
