Galway Bay fm newsroom - Some hotels in Galway are fighting back to reduce their dependency on websites such as Booking.com and Expedia to secure bookings.
According to today's Irish Times, hotels such as the Loughrea Hotel and Spa and Galway Bay Hotel in Salthill are offering better deals by booking directly with the hotel's website.
As hotels have to pay commission of 15 to 20 per cent to online travel agencies for bookings made through websites, hotels are trying to increase revenue to their own businesses.
Some hotels offer free breakfast or food and spa vouchers if a customer books directly with the hotel either by phone or their own website.
