Galway hosts Ireland's first geoscience conference

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Ireland's first ever conference for early career geoscientists is getting underway at NUI Galway today.

iGEO2018 is a new 2-day event designed to cultivate scientific debate and foster the development of early-career geoscientists.

Junior Minister and Galway West TD Sean Kyne, who's attending today's session, says the event aims to develop Ireland's mineral, petroleum and extraction industries.

The Geological Survey of Ireland is currently leading a groundwater and turlough project which is studying and analysing flood problems, including at several dozen sites in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.
