Galway has one of longest waiting lists for Fair Deal scheme

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway has one of the longest waiting lists for the government Fair Deal scheme.

The county had 45 people waiting at the end of June this year.

Figures obtained by Fianna Fail TD Mary Butler show that in the three week period from June 7 until the end of the month, the number of people waiting for placement went from 729 to 846.

Cork South Lee also has a waiting list of 45, while the Northern area has 40 waiting.

According to the Irish Independent, more than 23 thousand people are availing of the Fair Deal scheme.

Its budget was increased by over 24 million euro this year.
