Galway Bay fm newsroom - There have been 5 road deaths in Galway since the start of the year according to the Road Safety Authority's review of fatal collisions, published today.
Galway has the fourth highest number of deaths along with Wexford, after Kerry and Limerick with 6, Cork with 7 and Tipperary with 8
The RSA says it's alarmed at a 7 per cent rise in the number of road deaths across the country so far this year.
Most happen in rural areas with speeding, not wearing seatbelts and the use of mobile phones some of the main causes.
90 people have been killed in crashes so far this year - 7 more than the same period last year.
We're being warned Sunday is the most dangerous time to be on the roads.
The time most collisions take place is between midday and 10pm.
Garda Assistant Commissioner David Sheahan says the afternoon and early evening is the most dangerous time to be on the roads.
