They had the smallest amounts of people jailed in 2020, based on population size.
The average rate nationwide was 89 per 100 thousand population - Galway was considerably below this last year, at 71 per 100 thousand.

Overall, just under 5,300 people were sent to prisons throughout the country throughout 2020.
Longford was the most law-breaking county - with an imprisonment rate of 198 people per 100,000 population.
Longford garda David Conroy, from the Garda Representative Association, says there's been a crime problem in the area.
